What You Will Be Doing:

The incumbent of this position will perform paraprofessional-level accounting work, which requires technical knowledge regarding application of standard accounting procedures and practices in analyzing and interpreting accounts and accounting documents.

  • Accounting: knowledge of traditional accounting practices including accrual, obligations, and cost methods.
  • Accounting Operations: knowledge of generally accepted auditing standards and procedures for conducting financial and compliance, economy and efficiency, and program audits.
  • Analytical Thinking/Problem Solving: uses a logical, systematic, sequential approach to address problems or opportunities or manage a situation by drawing on one’s knowledge and experience base and calling on other references and resources as necessary.
  • Oral Communication: expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral and written presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately.

Minimum Qualifications

One year of clerical work experience maintaining records that included using computer systems and performing basic arithmetic calculations.

Substitutions:
Successful completion of a formal vocational education program in accounting or bookkeeping will substitute for the required experience.

Post secondary education from an accredited college will substitute for the required experience (3 semester/4 quarter hours equal one month).

  2. Typing certification (dated within one year) showing the ability to type a minimum of 35 gross words per minute with an accuracy rate of 95% or higher.     Position requires access to the tax system and the passing of a federal background investigation including fingerprinting.

    EDUCATION

    If post-secondary education is required to meet the minimum qualifications, you must fill in the Education and Training section of the Applicant Profile.
